The story follows Shrek\, an unlikely hero who enjoys living alone in his swamp until a group of fairy-tale characters is banished there. To reclaim his home\, Shrek sets out to rescue Princess Fiona from Lord Farquaad\, hoping the reward will restore his peaceful life. Along the way\, he is joined by the talkative Donkey\, and together they discover that true friendship\, love\, and acceptance come from embracing what makes each person unique.
