SUMMARY:Author Talk at the Reedsburg Library
DESCRIPTION:Author Tamara Dean will present a chapter from her book "Shelter and Storm: at Home in the Driftless." The book is composed of several essays Dean wrote while living near Viola\, in the Driftless area.\n\n\n\nAny one of these chapters\, highlighting such topics as floods\, rural neighbors\, and constructing one's house out of homemade bricks\, would make for a fascinating program. However\, the topic of her May 3 talk is "What the Light is Hiding" adapted from the chapter "Night Vision."\n\n\n\nThe presentation tells the story of Jennie Harerbo\, who would challenge the efforts of the Rural Electrification Administration to bring electricity to her Driftless address in 1937. Dean's program illuminates this interesting historical episode\, and what\, in fact\, the observant might see in the dark.\n\n\n\nThere is no registration or fee required to attend the program.\n\n\n\nFor questions about any library service or program\, call the library at 608-768-READ (7323) or email info@reedsburglibrary.org.
