2011 Harvest Fest Scarecrow Contest.
1. ELIGIBILITY: The 2011 Scarecrow Contest is open to all ages, individuals, families, clubs, groups & businesses. Each person, family or group may only enter one time. Scarecrows are to be assembled off site and brought to
2. TROPHIES WILL BE AWARDED IN FOUR CATEGORIES:
a. Crowd Favorite—Each scarecrow will be assigned a collection jar. Visitors will vote with quarters and at the end of the day, the scarecrow that earns the most, wins crowd favorite.
b. Trash to Treasure – The scarecrow illustrating the best use of recycled materials.
c. Most Unusual – Whimsical, Weird, Fantastic, Hilarious…depict your favorite character (fictional, historical or local)…let your imagination run wild—the judges will recognize unusual when they see it.
d. Judge’s Favorite—a completely subjective category decided completely at the whim of the judging panel.
3. ENTRY FEE: $5. Register in advance, and receive a coupon for Resale Beyond the Expected to help outfit your scarecrow. Mail registrations to Reedsburg Area Historical Society,
4. CONSTRUCTION: Scarecrows must be mounted on a minimum 4 ft stake, constructed in such a manner as to be stuck into the ground. Scarecrows should be sufficiently durable to stand up to the weather of the day. All entries must be hand-made. No commercial costumes, rubber masks, plastic masks etc. will be allowed. As part of the display, you may include a sign with the name/title of the entry and name of artist/builder to help friends and family identify entries when voting. The sign should be no larger than 11 x 17 inches and incorporated into the display so as not to fall apart or blow away. No advertising or political statements are allowed. The scarecrow contest exhibit area is family friendly. Scarecrows should be whimsical, humorous, mischievous or lovable - NOT frightening. Monsters, gruesome, bloody or especially scary entries will be disqualified. Any materials that become separated from their entry and escape the boundaries of the display will be considered litter and disposed of.

7. DURATION: Scarecrows will NOT be supervised although entrants are welcome to scarecrow sit. Judging and voting will take place between 9:30 AM and 1:45 PM with winners announced at 2 PM. Scarecrows must be retrieved by their owners no later than 2:30 PM. Scarecrows not removed by 2:30 PM will become the property of the Reedsburg Area Historical Society.
