Enjoy an exciting day trip to Galena, Illinois with University of Wisconsin-Platteville Baraboo Sauk County Instructor Lisa Thomas. Bus departs Reedsburg ShopKo at 7 am and returns at 7 pm. Beautiful Galena’s historic Main Street, named “Best Main Street in the Midwest” by Midwest Living magazine, curves past nearly 100 19th-century storefronts. Galena looks much as it did during the time of the Civil War, although now the historic red brick buildings are home to charming boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants. We will begin our day at the Ulysses S. Grant home to learn how a group of citizens gave their war hero a home. We will then visit Old Market House to learn more about Grant and Galena, which will help you in your next adventure of shopping and eating in downtown Galena. You will explore on your own and take in all you can of this beautiful city for half of the day. We will end our day at the Galena Museum.
