    Event Description:
    October 13-19, 2019: Necedah National Wildlife Refuge Week (NNWR) There are activities available daily for you to come and enjoy this beautiful preserve at N11385 Headquarters Rd, Necedah, WI. 
     
    Tuesday, October 15, 9 AM-4 PM:  Nature Inspired Arts, a display of nature-inspired art will be on exhibit with a chance to talk with some of the creators. 1-2:30 PM: Nature Journaling and Sketching with Deb Biechler-Participants meet in the Visitor Center then disperse to sketch and write in nature (as weather allows). Those who desire will meet back at the center to share experiences. 
     
    Wednesday, October 16, 1-2:30 PM: Explore Shinrin-yoku, the Japanese practice of immersing your senses in the forest to reduce stress and increase immune function. Dress for the weather. Among Trees-a guided journal for forest bathing- ($18.95) will be available to help continue and enhance your forest bathing practice. Friends group members and workshop attendees receive a 10% discount on the book. The workshop is led by Deb Biechler.
     
    Thursday, October 17, 10:30 AM: Dr. Karen Oberhauser biologist, author, educator will talk about her role as a research biologist & proponent of citizen science. She is a former director of Monarch Lab at U of Minnesota and current director of the Arboretum in Madison. 12-1 PM: Friends of Necedah National Wildlife Center potluck. Beverages will be provided.
     
    Friday, October 18, 1-2 PM: Cranes Around the World Presentation by Jeannie VanVianen and staff from the International Crane Foundation. Desserts available. 
     
    Saturday, October 19, 10-11 AMMark Pfost presents on Wetlands and Wetland Restoration. Find out about and be inspired by recently completed projects. 
     
     
    Saturday is Family Day at the refuge. From 10 AM-2 PM, enjoy a variety of on-going activities that include birds, nature art, a scavenger hunt and more. 11:30
    AM, Celebrate NNWR's 80th birthday with cake while supply lasts. 
     
    The Visitor Center is open from 9 AM-4 PM and NNWR property from sunrise to sunset.
