 "An Evening with Matthew Desmond", Reedsburg Public Library, 370 Vine Street, Reedsburg. This year's UW-Madison Go Big Read book selection is Evicted by Matthew Desmond, a look at housing instability through the experiences of families and individuals in Milwaukee. Desmond, a UW-Madison alum and recipient of the 2015 MacArthur "Genius" grant, is a sociologist and urban ethnographer who currently serves as Associate Professor in Social Sciences at Harvard University. Evicted is a really powerful book and a very timely subject. Desmond will be speaking at the Memorial Union Theater and Reedsburg Public Library will be hosting a live web stream of the author's keynote on the Community Room big screen.
